Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Analyze daily sales order transaction details to ensure accuracy
  2. Identify sales and margin anomalies and recommend corrections
  3. Prepare journal entries for review/posting
  4. Review commissionable margin adjustments for validity, propose adjustments based on review
  5. Adhoc reporting and analysis as assigned.

1.      Complete daily sales and margin watch analysis timely and accurately, analyze and research unusual items and report on timely

2.      Assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries related to margin in compliance with the monthly close schedule

3.      Review commissionable margin adjustments for validity, propose adjustments based on review

4.      Assist and comply with external auditing and reporting requirements

5.      Provide resource for ad hoc reporting and analysis

PROCESS:

List critical processes this individual will undertake to achieve targeted results.

1. Complete daily sales and margin watch analysis timely and accurately, analyze and research unusual items and report out on exceptions timely.

a.      Complete the daily sales report and submit to the Staff Accountant for review daily on or before the daily set deadline

b.      Complete the margin watch review process daily and report on exceptions investigated or requiring assistance to the Staff Accountant within the daily set deadline

c.      Work with the business on identified anomalies and drive to resolution

2. Assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries related to margin in compliance with the monthly close schedule

a.      Prepare assigned monthly account reconciliations according to month-end close schedule.

b.      Estimate and book accounting accruals for certain revenue and expense accounts.

3. Review commissionable margin adjustments for validity, propose adjustments based on review

a.      Review commissionable margin adjustments for validity and process approved adjustments

b.      Calculate and prepare upload of commissionable margin adjustments as assigned

c.      Update systems for commissionable margin adjustments including plan changes as assigned.

4. Assist and comply with external auditing and reporting requirements

Provide necessary documents for external audits.

5. Provide resource for ad hoc reporting and analysis

Assist with necessary special projects as directed.

METRICS

  • Completion of daily sales and margin watch analysis by 10 am PT daily
  • 100% cut-off for P&L activity
  • $0 audit adjustments arising from the annual audit and bank audit
  • Valid commissionable margin adjustments submitted to payroll by ______ calendar of each month
  • No valid commissionable margin adjustment that was submitted by the deadlines is missed for review/evaluation as to being adjusted for commissions

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Comparable to 4 year accounting degree in United States from accredited university

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES, ETC.:

Equivalent of US CPA or actively working towards obtaining CPA license is a plus

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  1. 2+ years’ experience in accounting role
  2. General ledger accounting experience that includes complex account reconciliations, journal entries and financial statement analysis.
  3. Experience with analyzing margins
  4. Experience with sales commissions plans including calculations.
  5. Excellent critical thinking skills (detailed analysis of accounting issues, accounting reconciliations)
  6. GAAP knowledge and accounting research skills required
  7. Experience working within an extensive ERP system and advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access etc.).
  8. Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  9. Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  10. Must be a self-starter with an ability to work individually and with others to achieve department goals.
  11. Excellent interpersonal skills and thrives in a team-oriented environment.
  12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
